Gartner is hiring an Associate Database Administrator / Data Engineer for its core infrastructure engineering division in Chennai. Operating within a high-performance cloud environment, this role blends core database administration with active modern data engineering. You will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing enterprise relational datastores while concurrently building and troubleshooting automated data ingestion pipelines. The role supports Gartner's broader infrastructure transformation initiatives, demanding active involvement in database migrations, automated patch schedules, event-driven integrations, and configuration drift management across hybrid structures.

Requirements:

• 1–3 years of hands-on professional experience operating as a Database Administrator, Database Engineer, or Data Engineer.
• 1–3 years of practical experience administering, configuring, scaling, and tuning PostgreSQL database engines across production environments.
• Operational experience hosting, monitoring, and provisioning datastores across public cloud fabrics, with a deep specialization in Amazon Web Services (AWS) alongside exposure to Microsoft Azure ecosystems.
• Direct experience designing, building, and running data engineering workflows, leveraging cloud-native integration tools like AWS Glue.
• High programming proficiency utilizing Python and native Shell Scripting to automate database maintenance tasks, clean records, and build data pipelines.
• Practical familiarity handling large-scale computing tasks and unstructured data sets utilizing Apache Spark.
• Foundational capacity to build, coordinate, and troubleshoot web services and Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) system components.
• Willingness to integrate daily operational loops with modern DevOps toolsets, manage deployment code testing frameworks, and participate in peer code review sessions.
• Ability to handle database patching, systematic update schedules, system log monitoring, and root-cause analysis pipelines to consistently meet or exceed internal SLAs and OLAs.
• Strong qualitative and quantitative problem-solving capabilities, active interpersonal communication skills, an outcome-driven mindset, and the poise to navigate ambiguous architectural challenges effectively.
